DAY 2:-
Rain, rain & more rain today. Picked up by Sue our trusty driver at 9am and sped over to One Rundle Trading, a beautiful homewares, fashion & outdoor store for some retail therapy. If you are ever in Adelaide this is a must visit store!
One interstate passenger was in dire need of a new pair of boots so we made a quick detour to Burnside Village...one pair of boots purchased (& another on hold in the CBD....one happy traveller!)
It was pushing midday when we arrived in Tea Tree Gully at the base of the Adelaide Hills. We stopped for an absolutely lovely high tea at The Topiary Cafe @ Newmans Nursery. Steady rain & cold wind greeted us as we left the bus but we were soon to warm up with a pot of tea and two tiers of high tea per person!!! Some even added a bubbles to that. It was very yummy!
With full tummies we headed further up into the Hills. The rain was heavier, the wind was gusting and a road weather alert had been issued, but we ploughed on. We made a special stop at the famous "Big Rocking Horse", everyone loved this stop....a must-see (hey Rachael!) We can all tick this one off our "Big" lists! A stop in Birdwood at an antique shop and our last stop of the day was at Vintage Sun in Mt Pleasant.
With the rain & wind closing in around us we commenced our downward decent snug and warm in our little van.Dinner this evening was at Yakitori-Takumi a fab Japanese restaurant also in Nth Adelaide and it was de-licious....tempura mushrooms, dumplings, chicken skewers in tare, etc, etc....duck! (Patty)
We finished the night in the hotel bar with a nightcap and lots of story telling.....sweet!
