Regretfully, I will be closing my store here in Robe on Sunday 4th May.
Thank you for following my journey so far. Sorry it has been a little haphazard with posts here on this blog.
Change is in the air and I will be back..... with a new business name, business direction and State to call home..... (We are heading back to country Victoria)
All the details are coming soon.....I hope you will stick around to see where we go from here, cheers Janet

Hello c&os travellers, sorry for the delay in the final post of our trip to Adelaide.
I have been in Melbourne visiting the Grandkids. Had the best time.
Have a happy day....
Really cute vintage powder compact, new in-store!

Day 4 - Cold, wet, cloudy, name it we got it weather wise in the Barossa Valley on our final day of our fabulous weekend. First stop was Brocante in the Barossa for some chalk paint, a great store and a quick tutorial on the finer points of painting using chalk paint (can't wait to try it out)  From here we visited Abbey Antiques, lots of lovely treasures, a really lovely store. A wine tasting at Seppeltsfield Winery was to follow, great wine and such a beautiful vineyard. A cafe lunch at Soul Cafe, lots of chatting and laughter as we waited for the rain to ease, afternoon tea at Maggie Beers and another antique store in Tanunda....cannot think of the name of it though. A really pleasant day dodging the rain (well some of us, anyway!) and visiting great stores and being with a fabulous group of ladies.
We ended the weekend with a mexican dinner at Zappatas.

See you all next September in Brisbane, Janet

DAY 3:-
Torrential rain, cold, cold winds and an early start today. The Strathalbyn Antique Fair is a great day out. The whole town gets into the vintage spirit and 5-6 halls, several antique stores, secondhand shops and op shops are all linked by shuttle bus.
With umbrellas aloft we leapt off the bus, dashing for some cover and into the first hall. My buddy and I didn't really see any of the other girls for about 3 hours. We all looked, negotiated, bargained and purchased many treasures and after a yummy and CHEAP CWA lunch of piping hot Minestrone Soup and a bread roll $4!!!! and a cuppa we were invigorated to shop for an hour or so more.
The rain was easing as we made our way to the Woodside Cheese Factory & Melba Chocolate Factory where we taste tested some cheese and purchased lots of sweets.
Another stop at several antique stores in Woodside and Sue did a quick 'U-y' at a lovely vintage store in Oakbank.
Dinner this evening was at The Store. Great service, lots of chatter & a glass or two of wine. We had a little celebration in the hotel bar for Sandra's birthday.A cup cake each (Lemon cup cake with lemon curd & lemon butter icing!)

DAY 2:-
Rain, rain & more rain today. Picked up by Sue our trusty driver at 9am and sped over to One Rundle Trading, a beautiful homewares, fashion & outdoor store for some retail therapy. If you are ever in Adelaide this is a must visit store!
One interstate passenger was in dire need of a new pair of boots so we made a quick detour to Burnside pair of boots purchased (& another on hold in the happy traveller!)
It was pushing midday when we arrived in Tea Tree Gully at the base of the Adelaide Hills. We stopped for an absolutely lovely high tea at The Topiary Cafe @ Newmans Nursery. Steady rain & cold wind greeted us as we left the bus but we were soon to warm up with a pot of tea and two tiers of high tea per person!!! Some even added a bubbles to that. It was very yummy!
With full tummies we headed further up into the Hills. The rain was heavier, the wind was gusting and a road weather alert had been issued, but we ploughed on. We made a special stop at the famous "Big Rocking Horse", everyone loved this stop....a must-see (hey Rachael!) We can all tick this one off our "Big" lists! A stop in Birdwood at an antique shop and our last stop of the day was at Vintage Sun in Mt Pleasant.
With the rain & wind closing in around us we commenced our downward decent snug and warm in our little van.Dinner this evening was at Yakitori-Takumi a fab Japanese restaurant also in Nth Adelaide and it was de-licious....tempura mushrooms, dumplings, chicken skewers in tare, etc,! (Patty)
We finished the night in the hotel bar with a nightcap and lots of story telling.....sweet!
I have not written or uploaded photos for awhile, so sit back and enjoy the wrap-up of our annual collectors trip.....
Now that I have the retail store, August is my "summer holidays". Each year a lovely group of ladies and I choose a destination in Australia and spend 3-4 days 'antiquing', eating, etc, etc....
This year we conquered Adelaide.
DAY 1:-
We were picked up in a zippy 13 seater minivan by Sue, our driver for the weekend and she turned out to be our most favourite driver in the 13 years we have been touring Australia. Sue would screech to a stop at the meerest hint of "was that an antique shop?", she would do a U-turn and park us right in front of the store! She also carried supplies of water, sewing kit, fruitchocs, umbrellas, you name it she had it....& if she didnt have it, it was there the next day.
Our first stop was Cross Road Collectables, a treasure trove of everything old, lots of purchases were made then we were off to their sister store, Castle Collectables.....lots more treasures here and the bus was almost full and we hadn't even had lunch yet! (Someone kept buying large items!!)
We spent the afternoon strolling along Magill Road as the winter sunshine warmed us. This road is lined with antique shops, homewares stores, fashion stores and restaurants. We shopped 'til we dropped here, some went their own way or in smaller groups for lunch. I enjoyed a lovely lunch in a little restaurant called My Friend Louis with several of the girls and it was just lovely. We chatted 'alot' over our coffee and lunch (a delicious tomato tart) about the year that had gone by and what new collection we had moved onto. We ended our shopping day at Pedlars Antique Store, loaded down with parcels and enjoyed a quick pub meal at The Lion Hotel in North Adelaide.
